Top layer: Rice, cucumber slices, strawberry containers with salt and vinegar, "fun-shaped" (more like "weirdly-shaped" chicken nuggets).
Bottom layer, left compartment: Quail eggs, strawberry, melon, watermelon, lemon shaped and flavored marshmallows
Bottom layer, right compartment: Chocolate Oreos, teeny tiny grapes, sweet lanzones
My baon box was so full today. I packed it with several things to snack on because I knew that it was going to be a manic Monday and that I wouldn't be able to leave my cube all day. I'm still pretty full right now, heee.
Top compartment: Chocolate custard cake plus melon, strawberry, watermelon and lemon shaped and flavored marshmallows
Bottom compartment: Sauteed pork and cauliflower
I had a lunchtime press event today, so no full bento this time. I did pack a snack bento which I ate when I got back to the office, however. I needed stuff to munch on while writing - brain food, and all that.
Left compartment: Tuna flakes, rice, surimi crab sticks
Right compartment: Mandarin oranges
In the kinchaku: Marshamallows with orange jelly filling
Everything was orange in yesterday's bento, heee. I didn't plan it that way, but that's how it turned out.
My bentos haven't been very inspired lately. Aside from being culinary-challenged, work is toxic these days, and I'm exhausted. I don't have the time to shop for cute groceries, plan what I want to make, and assemble food. I'll still try though.
Left layer: Pork and broccoli in oyster sauce
Right layer: Rice with furikake, quail eggs with salt in a strawberry container, marshmallows with orange jelly filling
I was really uninspired this morning because of my total lack of sleep, so I made the bento in response to my cravings instead of creativity. It turned out pretty well though - everything in it tasted so yummy. ^-^
Top layer: Garlic bread from Le Coeur de France, cucumber slices, strawberry containers with salt and vinegar
Bottom layer: Corned beef, rabbit egg on a scrambled egg bed
In the kinchaku: Hello Panda biscuits
This was my bento from Wednesday last week, but horrible stuff happened and I couldn't post it until now. The food I packed that day was so addictive! Le Coeur's garlic bread is so amazingly creamy and rich I can't stop eating it, cucumber slices are one of the very few veggies that I like snacking on, and Hello Panda biscuits make me smile. I also consider eggs and corned beef as comfort food - they remind me of home. I loved everything in this bento even if they're all so simple.
Top layer: Extra hot chili pancit canton, lumpiang shanghai
Bottom layer: Butter macaroons, milk chocolate balls, cucumber slices, container with vinegar
I'm back! It feels great to be out of hiatus. So much has happened that I haven't been able to make bento, but now I think I can slowly ease back into the habit. As I'm still getting used to the idea again, I went for the old favorites with this one. I just went for what can be found in my kitchen. I don't think I'll be able to buy bento supplies at the moment, so the stuff in the fridge will have to do. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to eat this bento at work. I felt sick earlier so I ate it when I got home. It still tasted okay though. It feels great to be back!
Left compartment: Surimi crab drizzled with mayo, mini bola-bola siopao
Right compartment: Cucumber slices, beef tapa
In the kinchaku: Tangerine-lime sparkling water, chocolate pudding
This week isn't really a good time to make bento. I'm so busy I can barely breathe, so I don't really have the time to do some grocery shopping, and I'm so exhausted that I can't get up early to cook. Today's bento was a quick fix. Everything in it was grabbed from the fridge and prepared in just under 15 minutes, or bought at a convenience store on my way to work. The food's all good though, so it worked out fine. I hope next week things will ease up a bit.
Top layer: Pancit canton, egg bear
Bottom layer: Pork tocino, cherry tomatoes
Mini container: Extra hot chili sauce
Dessert bento: Hello Panda biscuits, Bench orange marshmallows, Malaysian heart-shaped chocolates
This was my bento last June 14. I can't believe I forgot to post it. I've just been too busy with work I guess. I really like the Lock & Lock containers - I'm sure they'll be handy for food with a bit of liquid in them. The bears in this bento really cheered me up that day, as well as my dolphin chopsticks. ^-^
Top layer: sushi, container with soy sauce, crab and cucumber salad
Bottom layer: mini bola-bola siopao (steamed pork bun), packet of siopao sauce, Malaysian heart-shaped milk chocolates, apple wedges, spreader with Nutella
This is the bento experiment that didn't turn out the way I thought it would. Well, I didn't really have a lot of expectations anyway heh. It was my first time making sushi! All I can say is that if you want perfect sushi, use sushi rice. Don't use any other kind of rice! No, no, no. Now I know why the greatest sushi chefs take decades to fully hone their craft. Making sushi is hard! I also tried mini siopao this time, and it was okay, just a tad too small. The Nutella made my day though. I loff it! I go crazy over the stuff.
Left compartment: Pork and cauliflower stir fry in oyster sauce
Right compartment: Plain rice
Snack and dessert container: Malaysian heart-shaped milk chocolates, Choco Mint Tim Tams, marshmallows with orange jelly filling
This was yesterday's box. I missed the Philippines, and it shows in this bento. It's a simple one because I was still tired from my trip. The original plan before I left was to make cauliflower in oyster sauce for my next bento, but having just gotten back the night before from Malaysia, I decided to modify the dish a bit. Malaysia is a Muslim country, so pork is not allowed there. I really missed pork during my stay, so I decided to include it in the stir fry. The rice was intentionally plain. We had tasty rice in Malaysia, but it always had something in it, so I missed having it plain like we do here everyday. There are Malaysian goodies in this box as well - heart-shaped milk chocolates, and Choco Mint Tim Tams (I rarely see them here in the Philippines). The marshmallows aren't from Malaysia, but I was craving for them badly while I was away, so they're in this box too heh.
