Left compartment: "BOO" alphabet chicken nuggets, brown rice
Right compartment: A very surprised little tomato, Go Lightly coffee candy, oatmeal cookies
In the kinchaku: Oatmeal cookies
Here's another practice bento. I feel like a newbie again, I've lost all my bento skills. Of course I never had them anyway, but to me, all that counts is that I try, haha. This is just a snack bento however, since I went out for lunch that day.
Now that I think about it, this bento seems like it's healthier than usual too, considering all the junk I usually eat. The brown rice and sugarfree candy are actually my mom's stuff - she's diabetic, so our house is filled with all sorts of diabetic-friendly food now.
p.s. A post on the nuggets is over at Pinoy Bento.

Behold my new Monokuro Boo bento box!!! It's a gift from jcruxille for inspiring her to make bento. Thank you so much, Lizz! I love it and I can't wait to use it!

Top layer: Tulip hotdogs, cheese and mayo toasted sandwich, nori hearts
Bottom layer: Mandarin oranges
In the kinchaku: Yakult
It's been a while since my last bento. My skills are rusty (well, not that I was ever good anyway hah!), so yesterday, I finally got around to making a practice one. My friend bought me this box months ago, but this is the first time I've used it. It's great to be back to making these things, even if it means I have to get up really early on bento days.

Left compartment: Fun-shaped chicken nuggets, cucumber slices in different sakura shapes, a tomato, and a tiny container filled with vinegar
Right compartment: Mochi on a blue penguin skewer, spicy Japanese nuts and crackers
In the kinchaku: Ponkan orange and Mango-Milk Mousse Pocky
Yay for another Japan bento! I got most of the stuff here in Tokyo last week. I absolutely adore the blue usagi box, and it goes so well with the blue dog chopsticks I got with it. Today, I had Mango-Milk Mousse Pocky. It's pretty weird-tasting to me, haha, but I liked it.
Bento details!
Fun-shaped chicken nuggets (there's a diamond, arrow, and half-moon in there somewhere), cucumber slices in three different sakura shapes, a tomato, and a lovely little sauce container that I got from Japan Airlines.

Attention Pinoy bento people!
I made a community called PinoyBento. I noticed that we need a place to discuss local bento things, especially since BentoLunch has posts from all over the world and the congestion makes it a bit hard to find posts. It will be the place for discussing bento-making (or rather, baon-making) in the Philippines. Let's use it to share our secret Filipino food recipes, give and get directions to the places that sell local bento supplies, plan bento meetups with other Pinoy bento-makers, and talk about other local bento topics. But as we're affiliated with BentoLunch, I ask that you post all your bento pictures here, as well as in your own bento blogs. Go join it, yah? Nothing's there yet, but I'll get it going soon.
Top compartment: Hot and spicy tuna with nori hearts, rice, sakura cucumber slices
Bottom compartment: Spicy Japanese crackers, mochi on animal skewers, Japanese nuts with tiny spicy crackers
Starpped to the bento band: Strawberry Pocky, Japanese milk chocolate
There's nothing like a trip to Japan to get me out of my bento hiatus haha. I had an absolutely fantastic time there, and it really put me in the mood to make time for bento again. My main mission in Japan actually was to find bento stuff, and I did! I wasn't able to find a Daiso, but I did find some super kawaii bento things in Don Quixote in Shibuya. I also bought some tasty Japanese treats at one of Tokyo's many convenience stores. Today, I used my new San-X bento box! It's got Rilakkumma, Korilakkuma, and Kiroii Tori on it - it's love!

Left layer: Fresh strawberries, strawberry jam
Right layer: Fried kikiam, strawberry containers filled with salt and vinegar
Strawberry love! This was my bento last Friday. My aunt was just in Baguio, the Philippines' summer capital, the only place cool enough in this country to grow some berries and flowers. She brought me the fresh strawberries and strawberry jam. Mmm - so yum!
As for bento news, Kaoko Cow and I met up again! We had merienda at Chowking and talked for a bit. She bought these cute cutters for me from Hatchin! Thanks Chrissie! It's nice having a bento friend.

Left layer: Cucumber slices, carrot sticks, mini buttered ham sandwiches
Right layer: Kona coffee glazed macadamia nuts, chocolate covered macadamia nuts, rabbit apples, Happy Cow cheese
Yesterday's bento was all about the macadamia nuts! I love these things, they're addictive! But I liked that this bento had a variety of stuff in it. The cucumber slices, carrot sticks, cheese, and rabbit apples gave me something to munch on while I was in by cube all day, and the ham (heated in butter) sandwiches surprisingly filled me up.
Left compartment:Holiday ham on sliced bread (like an open-face sandwich)
Right compartment:A mini orange, Happy Cow cheese, and carabao milk candy
I miss making bento so much! Too much has been going on lately for me to be in the mood to bento (plus Asia's Internet is wonky because of the Taiwan earthquake so yeah), but last Friday I decided to throw a quick one together. The leftover ham was from the holidays, which I just heated up and put on top of bread, while the carabao milk candy was from my officemate Jerry, who went to Cagayan for vacation. This bento may be simple but it has two of my favorite things in the world - Happy Cow cheese and an orange, yum!

Kaoko Cow (who makes the amazing bentos in Kitchen Cow) and I met up for a bento accessory swap! She gave me a Feel at Ease utensil set that matches my Feel at Ease bento box plus some Cinamoroll furikake packets. I gave her red chopsticks with tiny silver dragonflies on it to match her red dragonfly bento box. She got the raw end of the deal, mind you, but I'll make it up to her next time. It was fun. I hope we get to meet up again soon for some bento food shopping.

Bottom layer: Marshmallow flowers, chewy brownie cookies, mildly spicy tamarind candy
In the bag: A teeny tiny orange
It feels good to be making bento again! I haven't had the time lately, and I still don't, but I decided that I can still do it once in a while by sticking to food that takes only minutes to make. The spicy tamarind candy make me happy! I got them in Thailand last week. We have tamarind candy here too, but they're sweet. These ones are spicy, so they taste weird, but they grown on you. I got the mild version though, so the taste isn't as strong. And I love the mini orange. Yay for the new bento box! My favorite color has always been blue, but for some reason, this is the first blue bento box that I got. It inspired me enough to fight for the right to bento, hehe.
Left compartment: Hotdog tulips on furikake grass, rice in the background.
Right compartment: Sauteed pork and baguio beans.
In the kinchaku: Lemon, watermelon, strawberry shaped and flavored marshmallows.
Not shown: Chuckie chocolate milk.
Work is toxic this week, and I'm very exhausted, so I keep opting for bento that's quick and easy. The cute marshmallows are still in today's bento, but now I kept them in their equally cute packaging. Yay for tulips and baguio beans.
